Nortrax Supports Mechanized Logging Operations Program →

Nortrax announced its continued support of the Mechanized Logging Operations Program, which will resume this summer on June 28, 2021. The program is an educational joint venture of the Maine Community College System and the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine, along with other industry partners. Hultdins Introduces Fixed Mount MG Grapple Saws →

Hultdins's fixed mount MG grapple saws are available in three sizes for excavators from 6 to 27.5 ton (5.5 to 25 t) capacity. This new grapple saw configuration does not require an extra dedicated auxiliary circuit for the saw function as it is operated off the grapple close circuit. The only hydraulic requirements are the standard auxiliary "hammer" circuit and a low flow rotation circuit. Construction Crews Use Grapple Saw Advanced Technology: Tree Removal →

Construction crews, in conjunction with the California Department of Transportation, have started to utilize a new technology that will make their jobs a lot easier. Starting in Alameda County, construction workers have begun to use an automated system for the removal of deteriorating trees in the California area. Colorado Looks to Logging Industry to Revive Forests →

GOULD, Colo. (AP) Stunned by unprecedented megafires, Colorado is embracing logging — mowing holes up to 140 acres in beetle-infested lodgepole pines — in an effort to revive out-of-balance forests. This for-profit mechanized tree-cutting, concentrated between the blackened Cameron Peak and East Troublesome burn scars, has been clearing 3,000 acres a year. 2021 Oregon Logging Conference Cancelled →

Due to the extended State of Emergency in Oregon and the restrictions that remain in place regarding COVID-19, the Oregon Logging Conference board of directors has announced the cancellation of the 2021 Annual Logging, Trucking, and Heavy Equipment Expo at the Lane Events Center and Fairgrounds in Eugene. The conference had been scheduled for Feb. 25 to 27, 2021. 2021 Oregon Logging Conference president Scott Melcher said the board of directors had an extensive discussion and carefully considered all the issues before making the decision to cancel the annual conference.  Click for more...

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Lacking the resources to properly maintain all of its historic properties, the Ashley National Forest is proposing to get rid of its two oldest structures, both dating back nearly to the birth of the U.S. Forest Service more than a century ago. Residents in Lunenburg, Mass., will soon enjoy expanded renewable solar power. A new 3.5-megawatt commercial solar farm is under way along Electric Avenue — no pun intended. Located in northern Massachusetts, Lunenburg, pop. 11,657, is roughly 45 mi. northwest of Boston. In 2017, the town installed a solar farm, offering community solar power for residents.
