This draws to a close Crawford's nearly 40 years in the forestry machinery business, during which he consistently exemplified entrepreneurial spirit and a caring attitude. In a remodeled furniture factory-turned-apartment building in New Haven, Conn., the walls and ceiling are all yellow pine, harvested from Alabama. "So here we are, let's come into the bedroom," said developer Jeff Spiritos as he led a Connecticut Public Radio reporter on a recent site visit of the future ACME Timber Lofts structure. Two Rivers Lumber to Build Modern, $115M Sawmill in Rural Coosa County, Ala. →

Demopolis, Ala.-based Two Rivers Lumber Co. LLC has announced plans to invest $115 million in building a modern sawmill in Coosa County, the company's second operation in Alabama. In addition, Two Rivers Lumber has committed to creating 130 jobs at the new sawmill, which will specialize in the production of Southern Yellow Pine dimensional lumber. ODOT Comes to Aid After Storms Paralyze Oregon →

On a Saturday afternoon in the middle of January, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Transportation Maintenance Coordinator Jake Jensen was on his way back to the Veneta maintenance station after assisting co-workers with downed trees on a nearby rural highway. Under warm and sunny skies, the 86th Annual Oregon Logging Conference (OLC) attracted record numbers of industry professionals, families, friends and members of the public.
